{"id":11919,"date":"2022-09-24T08:30:45","date_gmt":"2022-09-24T08:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/protect-lawyers.org\/case\/eric-jay-magcamit\/"},"modified":"2025-03-26T11:14:06","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T11:14:06","slug":"eric-jay-magcamit","status":"publish","type":"listing","link":"https:\/\/protect-lawyers.org\/en\/case\/eric-jay-magcamit\/","title":{"rendered":"Eric Jay Magcamit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Philippines: Assassination of lawyer Eric Jay Magcamit<\/h2>\n<p><strong>17 November 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eric Jay Magcamit, a 35-year-old lawyer in the Philippines, was shot dead on 17 November while on his way to a hearing in Quezon, Palawan province.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eric Jay Magcamit was a general practitioner who also worked on electoral and immigration litigation cases.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from the Palawan provincial police office, the incident occurred at 6:46 a.m. while the lawyer was travelling from Puerto Princesa to Quezon. A witness stated that the lawyer\u2019s vehicle was stopped by two unidentified persons who made him get out of his vehicle before shooting him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The OIAD is particularly concerned about this new killing of a lawyer in the Philippines.
