2025 General Meeting: the Observatory looks forward to seeing its members on 26 June in Madrid
The International Observatory for Lawyers in Danger will be holding its annual General Meeting on Thursday 26 June 2025 in Madrid. This event will gather its active and associate members for a day of meetings and discussions, mainly focused on defending the legal profession worldwide.
The 2025 AGM will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both face-to-face attendance – in Madrid – and online participation, to ensure broad access for all members. The event will be broadcast with simultaneous interpretation in French, English, Spanish and Italian.
This year’s General Meeting will feature two main sessions:
A closed session in the morning – Restricted to OIAD members, this session will provide an opportunity to review the actions carried out, discuss future directions and strengthen synergies within the network. The handover of the CGAE presidency to the CNF will also take place at the end of the morning.
An open session (12:00pm – 1:30pm) – Open to all with registration, this session will feature two panels on “New initiatives for the defence of the defence” and “Focus on the challenges facing lawyers in Latin America and the Caribbean”.
The 2025 OIAD Award will also be presented to laureates who are particularly committed to defending fundamental rights.
Time dedicated to analysing international mechanisms for the protection of lawyers is planned from 3.30pm, including a presentation of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Lawyers and a presentation of the report on the Philippines Caravan, as part of the ongoing investigation before the International Criminal Court.
