TURKEY : Judicial observation mission – trial of the Istanbul Bar President and the Council of the Bar Association (Istanbul, 21 March 2025)

Lawyers Barbara Porta (Turin), Valeria Cominotti (Brescia) and Ketty-Anne Tamburini (Lyon) travelled to Istanbul as representatives of the OIAD to observe the hearing of the trial of the Istanbul Bar President and his Council, following the arrest of Ekrem Imamoglu, Mayor of Istanbul.
At the end of this hearing, the judge issued the revocation of the Bar Council and the dismissal of Bar President Kaboglu without preventive enforcement measures. This decision was strongly condemned by the OIAD.
