Description:
In February 2025, Barbara Porta, a lawyer at the Torino Bar, and Antonio Fraticelli, a lawyer at the Bologna Bar, travelled to Istanbul as representatives of the IADO to observe the trial hearing of the lawyer Seda Şaraldı, accused of belonging to the DHKP-C group for having defended its members in the past in other trials. Ms Seda Şaraldı has been in prison since the night of 6 to 7 February 2024.
According to the OIAD observers, “the trial showed with particular clarity the questionable evidence against Seda Şaraldı and the general absurdity of these proceedings. The defence succeeded in highlighting numerous contradictions in the statements of the secret witness.”
Finally, the defence asked for immediate release, as did the prosecutor. The lawyer was released and the next hearing in the trial is scheduled for 24 April 2025.
